Pastor Cindy L. Banks
Cindy L. Banks, is the proudly appointed pastor of The Indian Head-Shiloh Charge of the United Methodist Church, located in Indian Head and Bryans Road, Maryland. Prior to the coupling of these two uniquely effective community based churches she served for 8 years as the beloved shepherd of Shiloh United Methodist Church in Bryans Road. Before taking the mantle at Shiloh, she enjoyed 4 wonderful years sharing the pulpit as Co-Pastor of Indian Head United Methodist with her loving husband Pastor Jacques T. Banks. Throughout their independent ministries the congregations of Indian Head and Shiloh fostered a relationship in Christ that has bound them together in service to God in this rich mission field.
Cindy’s Episcopalian background influences her progressive perspective on Christianity. Trusting God to be at the center our of praise, worship, and service, as we base the decisions we make on Christ structured values. Her United Methodist grounding was effectively birthed and nurtured through her service to the body of Christ at Metropolitan UMC in Pomonkey Md. Her growth and education in Methodism is being honed in her study at Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington D.C. Pastor Cindy’s personal life is complex and complete. She is a bold, Christ centered, God fearing women whose heart for her community is fueled by her infectious love of family. She is a faithful daughter, devoted mother of 4, and the very proud grandmother of 10 precious gifts from God. Her love of family coupled with her love for the community where she has labored throughout her life is the foundation of her faithful commitment to serve all of God’s people with all her heart. Pastor Cindy’s compassionate love of people has a long documented history in her 20 plus years of labor in the healthcare industry.
As she serves God by serving His people in this fruitful and extended community she is lead by God’s word from Psalm‬ ‭25:4-6‬. “Show me Your ways, O LORD; Teach me Your paths. Lead me in Your truth and teach me, For You are the God of my salvation; On You I wait all the day. Remember, O LORD, Your tender mercies and Your loving kindnesses.” In Jesus Name!
